The DHA App Library is the central discovery platform for the Defense Health Agency's full suite of web and mobile applications, and one of the most visited pages on health.mil. The existing site was outdated and difficult to navigate, making it hard for users to find and access the tools they needed.
I led the redesign from initial sketching through a fully clickable high-fidelity prototype, using the App Store and Google Play as reference points — the two most recognized app discovery interfaces in the world — to inform the layout, sorting, and app detail page structure. Rather than starting from scratch, I used these familiar patterns to reduce the learning curve for users coming to the DHA library.
The redesign took a mobile-first approach, reflecting how the majority of users access the site, with responsive wireframes produced for mobile, tablet, and desktop to give the development team a clear roadmap. The final product also included a PWA installation tutorial. A feature that addressed a genuine gap, since the process of adding a Progressive Web App to a mobile home screen is unfamiliar to most users.
